The Winfield Library announces the launch of 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, a fun and exciting program perfect for children from birth to five years old. The concept is simple and the rewards are priceless. Studies have shown that families who read aloud to their children help strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary- two important tools for beginning to learn to read when they enter kindergarten. Reading with your child provides a great opportunity for bonding, helps promote a lifelong love of reading and helps ensure your child’s success at school. It also provides an opportunity to increase your child’s exposure to a wide variety of books, and to promote use of the library–a treasure trove of books! To participate, pick up your packet at the Youth Circulation desk. For every 100 books read, return your log to the desk and get a prize.
